A black-and-white photograph proves something existed. But a colour one lets you go there.
Long before he travelled through photographs, Charles Wainwright restored them.
Colourisation is not decoration. It is an act of attention: the blue of a coat, the warmth of skin, the small ordinary details that turn history back into somebody’s life.
For Charles, the work begins as craft. Then one photograph opens—and the past stops being an image.

Three months after his mother’s death, photographic colourist Charles Wainwright discovers a device that allows him to enter the moments captured in old photographs.
At first, he uses it for himself. Then he realises that everyone has a photograph they would give almost anything to step inside.
So Charlie Wainwright’s Travels is born.
But Charlie has one rule: the past may be visited, never altered.
Then a client asks him to break it.
